Does DVD full support VBR audio ?

http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html

Sorry, I did not find about "VBR audio" on this faq. So I ask:

1- Does DVD full support VBR audio ?
2- Is it recommended to do so ? Or I would still pick up with CBR audio ?

thanks :D

If it's not mentioned in the FAQ then VBR most surely ain't DVD compliant.
But others might give a better answer.
Cheers

I'm almost positive the audio must be CBR.
Those limits specify the minimum and the maximum, but it still must be encoded as CBR within that bit rate range.

Here's the correct answer: http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html#3.6.2
Basically, only MPEG audio can be VBR. All other formats won't be DVD compliant if made VBR.

Can mp2enc or TooLame encode a .mp2 in VBR?

rds_correia 12-23-2005 05:33 AM

Hi GFR :),
HeadAC3he seems to be able to encode with MP2enc in VBR.
The problem is you can't specify the minimum or the maximum 'cause it will immediatly go back to CBR mode.
Maybe BeSweet is more "up to date" with MP2Enc and can do the job as you want.
Cheers
