WAV to MP3 with auto tracks
 

I have a question, and maybe someone already knows the answer.
I can record up to 6 hours of audio with my Panasonic DMR-E20 from my Satellite system. This is 6 hours commercial free music. I can take the AC3 recorded audio, and extract it to WAV. Now what I'm looking for, is a program that allows me to encode this WAV to MP3, but being able to manually select some "markers" in the WAV file so that the MP3 encoder can split the encoded MP3 files into different files. So I just select the start of every song on the WAV file, and then the MP3 encoder program knows where the start of each song is. I don't want to manually cut out every song to a temporary file, to encode them independently. Is there such a program out there :?:
Second choice would be an audio editing program, where I can select each song as a numbered "chunk", and then after selecting all songs, the program would write out each WAV file with a different name. Then I could encode each separately. Very tedious work. :roll:

hi Kwag,

what you can do with Goldwave is load the 6 hour wav file and convert the whole thing to .mp3. Then set the cue points in the sound window and split up the large mp3 file into smaller ones. I tried it with a small mp3 file and it worked-- you might have to split the wav file into smaller segments first if it hogs too much memory.

edit: OOPS- it converted them to wav files :oops: HMM- good question :!: you probably already tried Cooledit huh?

the easiest way I can see to do this is using Goldwave, load the big wav file then mark and label each cue point and split the file into smaller wav's and then use batch conversion to convert each to mp3.

Ok, I'm trying the "Auto Queue" functions on Cool Edit 2000. Let's see if that works. What it does is find silence and/or phrases in the music, and marks the points. If that works, then I'll just save the WAV chunks and batch encode them :D

Hey Kwag did that work with cool edit. Using auto queue to seperate the waves. Let me know how the results turned out.

It works, if the silence is long enough. I think 2 continuous seconds or so. Shorter than that, the software gets confused.
