HeadAC3he: Downsample Ac3 448 kbps to 384kbps ?
Is there a easy way to downsample AC3 audio ??
|
I don't think so but you can convert the 5.1 ac3 first in 6 waves with besweet then back to ac3 (if you know a good ac3 encoder).
|
try to use, I have never had any problem with The "ac3machine".
Good luck ;-) |

Could you post your setting under AC3Machine because there are some values I'm not so sure on what to choose. Thanx |
Hi, rds_correia
try this personal settings http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif Also for very hard compressions ( less than 194kb/s) for example 128 Kb/s I use Surround 2 downsampling keeping totally dynamic range in Ac3 format sounds very close 5.1, in this case the same settings but check "LFE to LR Channels" in Azid Downmix levels and set "surround2" in channels mode Other program very good but is not freeware---->Sonic Foundry Dolby digital encoder   |
So what Bitrates for AC3 are DVD-compliant? All of them? Or only 448?
|
I recommend:
2.0 CH = 128, 160, 192 kbit 5.1 CH = 384, 448 kbit I also did one 224kbit 5.1 reencoding, it ended up good cause the source was excellent, so you have to try ;-) |
So far I've never noticed a 5.1 track sounding bad at 224kbps.
I've had good result for 2.0 track at only 96kbps. DVD-Compliant AC3 = anything between 64kbps and 448kbps. |
Dolby laboratories do not allow to put "Dolby AC-3" logo on material under 64KBits per channel (.1 not included as it does not use a lot of data).
So under 320, that is not AC3. That something close, but not the real one :-) |
has anyone had a problem with ac3machine?
I've loaded the besweet location, loaded my ac3, and my output file, sorted all my settings, (wanted to boost it a few db, and drop the bitrate from 448), done this fine before on a lotr audio, when I've tried it today, the black besweet box quickly pops up, then nothing, just exits, and no re-encoded audio |
I'm having the very same problem, however mine has never worked before. I read on doom9 that you put besweet and AC3machine in the same folder and it should work, however this one did not and neither did place the programs in separate folders. Any suggestions?

Ac3 448 kbps -> 384kbps ? how many you will get doing that?. just a few Mbs, right? you will loose: quality, volume, time and some more...is not a good choice! |
Yep, I do agree!
Its not worth downscaling from 448kbit to 384kbit beside all the disadvantages you will suffer from. |
