DownMix options in Headac3he??

Can anyone tell me the difference in the surround. stereo, & surround 2 options of HeadAC3he? I was use to using only Tmpgenc built in audio in stereo mode while making regular VCD'S.

Now I'm a bit confused :? on these options.

Any help and further explanation would be great :D

Thanks

They all refer to Home-Theater world.
Stereo is plain stereo mode (2 channels)
Surround is equivalent to DolbyPrologic (DPL)
Surround2 is for DPL II

Set the mode according to your receiver capabilities.

Thanks Dialhot :D

That answers that question!! :D Do I need to choose the button 2 or 4 channel or just leave it alone?

How about on the second options page where there is a choice for stereo. Joint Stereo, and Dual Channel? :?

Is there a setting that is better than most or does it make a great deal of difference? I have noticed that most of the guides are written for dual channel. Some simple explanation of the differences would be terriffic.

That refer to the format of the input I guess. Take 4 ch everytime to avoid to distort surround if the original had one.

Never choose JS. I use Stereo as I do not have a DPL II receiver but in Surround2 (so, with a DPL II receiver) it's better to use Dual Channel.

Thanks again Dialhot! :D

Should I use the 4 channel mode each time even if the movie is not true surround? Will that have any effect on the finished sound if the movie is not surround?

Hi all,

Didn't want to post a new thread for this one question. In 4 channel mode in headac3he it defaults to "light" wouldn't "normal" be better? What is the difference here?

Thanks in advance

excuse, i'm lost nighthawk,
where you're choosing 4 channel mode in headac3he ?
:?

edit>
i saw but believe , i never change to 4ch...
if you want surround and not surround2,
choose 2ch and change the downmix type to surround!

encode few seconds in each situation to compare the results!
