Is this a nero burning issue or an authoring issue?
First off all let me congratulate the site admin for an absolutely awesome forum and here is my welcome to this forum but i wonder if you can help with the following problem:
Basically i have converted an xvid file to dvd format mp2 m2v files using tmpgenc 2.5, i then authored it using ifo edit and created the .bup/.ifo/.vob files. I then tried to burn it using nero version 6 by choosing dvd new video and dropping all the relevant files into the video ts folder, nero starts to write the disc at 4X speed and gets to about 4% of the progress bar and then gives me an error message saying burn has failed. I have tried it on several occasions and each time i get the same error. It does however say at the top writing ifo1 and when it moves to writing the next file that is where the error comes up and that made me wonder if it is to do with the authoring that is causing the problems. I know it isn't a problem with my external usb artec vpn-pp8d24Q dvd rewriter because i have managed to convert the same xvid file using a programme called windvd creator which came with the writer but the quality was crap, hence this approach. Nero recognises my dvd writer no problems. I used to use nero version 5.5 before but for some reason nero wouldn't recognise my external dvd rewriter and i couldn't work out a way of adding it on so i upgraded to nero 6 which was the solution suggested by nero website. Someone told me about something called nero burn kit to resolve this problem have u ever heard of that. I know my dvd re-writer is compatiable with nero 6 as it says on there website. Sorry for the long essay and wonder if any one can help. |

Go on doom9 site and site on the download page, you will see both imgtool burn and classic. |
I think you can do that with Nero, but selecting New, Data Disk, type 2 or something like this.
I saw something like this in forum. -------------------------- Visit: DockingGate, a powerful tool, by Prodater64. Visit: DockingGate taskbar, by Prodater64. Visit: Mencoder scripting with AVSEdit and Guide for Multiple Files by Prodater64. -------------------------- |

That mean that you MUST log on doom9 site first, then click on the DL link from there. The links page is this : http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/software2.htm YOu just have to scrool down to "imgtool" to find the two links (they are in the "vobs tools" section. |

You should try with a tool that does not use or rely on Nero api so. CloneDVD for instance. But you will have to create an ISO image of the disc for that as clone DVD is to duplicate DVD to DVD, not to create a DVD from files.
Post the Nero log, BTW. |

I don't remember if you can load directly the iso or have to use daemon (that is the name of a freeware) to emulate a virtual DVD drive on your PC where you will "mount' the iso image and use as source for DVDClone.
You will see that. |

The error occurs in cdrdrv.cpp and that is probably that your burner is not supported by Nero.

!?!
That should be a bug in usb driver of windows so. You should look at microsoft website. Note: I always considered a usb burner as a nonsense, now I understand why :-) |
