AVI backup onto a CD?
Hi
I have been reading all sorts of threads regarding people trying to burn large movie files to regular 700Mb CD-Rs. Although some of these threads have made things clearer for me, I am still having a hard time understanding how I can get my 730Mb movie (a XviD AVI file) burned onto a 700Mb CD. The following thread seems to be the closest that I can find which touches on this subject: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7379 One thing to remember is that my file is not a KVCD; it's a regular AVI that I simply want to back up onto a CD so that I can have a backup in storage. I don't have a large harddisk so encoding or re-encoding is not an option. I wanna be able to move it off my computer and keep it safe for when i save up and do get a larger hardsisk. I do not intend to be playing this movie in a DVD player of any sorts (well, not for the time being anyway). I have Nero version 5.5.3.5 as my burning program, i don't know if it is any good. I hope someone can help me. |
You can not put an avi file neither other data file bigger than 700 MB in a CD80. Only (S)VCD burned in a special "mode 2" (this is (S)VCD mode) can. In fact with overburn you can save near 830Mb in a 700Mb (CD80) of (S)VCD material.
You can use CD90 800Mb. |
overburn
Hi Prodater64,
Read the above reply. Is it possible to burn a KSVD to the specs you outlined ie: 830 MB. If so could I try increasing the size of my MPEG1 Soundtrack and mux with the KSVCD i created and burn it to this volume in nero - Is this possible??? Thanks Blubear. 8O |

With Nero there is a tool that permit you test a CD and to see how much you can overburn it. Variability 820 - 830 often depends on CD media. |
