TMPGEnc DVD Author bitrate over 9800000 error?
When loading a DVD (not KDVD MPEG) into DVD Author, I often get "bitrate over 9800000" error. In DVDPatcher, the VOB bitrate is shown as above 9800000.
:?: Is it safe to ignore the error, as it appears to be on the original VOB itself? |
I would vote for "not safe" but if you find this in a comemrcial DVD, then that is probably not so harmfull

I'm not sure if this applies to your authoring tool, but when I use TMPEGEnc DVD Author with an .m2v file encoded with CCE, it reports a bitrate of 9800Kbps even if I encode it well below, say 4402Kpbs, and it warns me that with the audio, it will exceed the limits. I always ignore this warning and of course my disc is fine.
If I use IfoEdit to author, no error is reported. I don't know why I only get this warning when encoding with CCE. If I use TMPGEnc encoder I don't get this warning, so that led me to believe I was doing something wrong in CCE. So I posted the question in another forum (before finding KVCD), and others have reported that TMPGenc DVD Author also gives a warning of exceeding DVD storage limits and they have also ignored that warning. |
Hi :)

If you use VBR and you set it to encode around 4402Kbps most surely there will be bitrate peaks above 9800Kbps. And remember that CCE, also has some problems respecting the maximum selected bitrate ;-) Quote:
Can somebody correct me if I'm wrong? I think I read it at DVDDemistified  So I also believe it would be safe if you don't exceed video bitrate  9800Kbps. Quote:
Last time I checked, IfoEdit didn't check the whole DVD specs before muxing... So, It's normal that it doesn't display some errors that other tools do. Cheers |

Yes, IfoEdit is very forgiving. I did a quick test run, looked at the log, and found some interesting things I've never noticed before. This job was encoded at 6,000Avg 2,000Min 8,500Max Quote:
However, later, in another section, it said: Quote:
