With KDVD you can put 4 hours on a disc in 704x480, 6 in 352x480 and 10 in 352x240.
4 hours in 704X480 is very good quality? Is that the quality in 352X240 in junk very good too?

4h in 704*480 will be in DVD quality (so very good)
10h in 352x240 will be better than VCD quality. That mean that it could be good or not for your eyes, depending on your tastes.
(actually I put 14h in 352x240 with quality close to old VCD).

Good!

704 X 480 ? why not 720 ?

Its 4 hours what ever is the size of the AVI source file?

The only thing that I need to know now is how to compress in KDVD! hehe

The 3$ to subscribe to this forum worth the money!!

That's a long story that you can read if your look into Incredible posts. A very short one for instance :

The size of the source don't have anything to do with the size of the target, whatever the codecs on both sides are. Any conversion starts by decoding the source to a raw, uncompressed format, then it encodes (and compress) it into the new format.

I read about the 704 in the doom9 guide yesterday. Do you think I'm better to capture in 704 or 720?

I think 704 is sufficient but not sure the cards let you choose exactly the resolution you want to use.

Send a message via ICQ to incredible
If capturing at 720 and the result gots black borders on each side (right/left edges ) about 9px each ... then 720 are ITU compilant.
If almost no black borders (at right left) can be seen, then you have to capture at 704.
