Guys, HELP!!

I encoded a two hour movie using the new x2 template, did multiplex with BBmpeg with the same params as Kwag (per his helpful graphic), but Nero is padding the file size from 815 megs to 930 shortly before burning!!! What did I miss?

Weird. I never use Nero -- VCDEasy always does a great job for me.

I have the same problem with Reno!
in my experiance
the 80m blank CD can write almost 800mb mpg file to a standard VCD
but, with the way of KVCD product
we should brun these mpg files to a non standard VCD
But!!!
Nero (or VCDeasy) says that files (703mb to 800mb) were too big to fit!
what's wrong!!!

VCD is using the "mode 2 / xa"
Data CD is using the "mode 1"
in 80m blank CD
VCD can write 800mb
Data CD can write 703mb

Why non standard VCD is using "mode 1" ????
it still "mode 2 / xa", doesn't it ?

It shouldn't. VCD on XVCD are all burned as MODE-2. VCDEasy treats mpegs created with KVCD parameters as MODE-2. Actually, if you do a KVCD_LBR encode (352x240), VCDEasy will import the file as a "Standard" VCD . You don't even need to turn off compliance. I believe Nero will do the same. But higher resolution, non-standard must be specified. I never had a problem burning with VCDEasy

Same prob here.

If you use Nero's Image Writer, you will see, Nero actually makes a 800-900MB .nrg file out of your 700-800 MB mpeg file (respectively VCD project).

I got the same prob, and no solution.
If you look through the VCD properties tab, you'll see Mode 2 ist shaded grey (coz you can't choose between mode 1 & 2), but STILL ENABLED.
Nero knows you wanna write Mode 2, actually writes Mode 2, but still does not use the 2352-Byte blocks (S)VCD usually use instead of 2048-Byte-CDROM blocks.

Damn!

JESUS! I didn't realise this topic is that old.

Jesus is on vacation. The topic is not that old as soon as it's for
something we are using.

Always use vcdeasy to make bin/cue image and after that burn it with
whatever you want: vcdeasy, nero, cdrwin... doesn't matter. It always
works.
