Chapters are several seconds early!

Hi guys,

Help Please, I have problem with Chapter:

My Video is KVCD 352x240, length 138 minutes, Audio 96 Kbps.
I'm use VCDEasy to make chapters. After burn and play with DVD player (both standalone and computer), the chapter are several seconds early.

Thanks,

Sukasem

This is probably related to MPEG-1 VBR. You could try closing the GOP in TMPEG before encoding
See if that solves the problem.

Hi kwag,

Thanks for your quickly reply,

I did close GOP in TMPEG, but can't solve the problem.

Thanks,

Did you try another movie? Maybe the problem is with that one only

Hi Sukasem,
Just a question: Did you get the chapters points from the IFO File with ChapterXtractor and pasted it to VCDEasy? If yes, see if the FPS Rate you had on ChapterXtractor was equal the framerate that you encode.
I never realized that, until look that the chapters didn't match with the start of the songs of a Show DVD.
Just my 0,02.

Hi Kwag,

I experience with the other movies too. I will try to do standard VCD with chapter and I'll get back.

Hi LaBomba,

I convert the movie from AVI (divx), never try convert from DVD yet.

Thanks all of you guys,

Sukasem

Hi Sukasem,

Did you encode at the same frame rate with the VCD template and the KVCD template :?:

Hi Kwag,

I do the same frame rate (29.97fps)

Just curious, the chapters (the scenes) in your VCD are exactly the same as DVD when you convert DVD->KVCD. Have you ever convert DVD concert?

Thanks,

Sukasem

PS. sorry for my bad english!

The only concert I converted was the DVD of Styx "Return to Paradise", but I didn't do chapters

Hi Kwag,

I made the chapter at the start of the songs but actual chapters in KVCD don't start at the start of the songs sometime 2 minutes before the songs start. Do you thing because of VCDEasy, BBMpeg, TMPG or I did something wrong?

Thanks,

Sukasem

No way! I've never seen anything like that!. I know KVCD's GOP is long, but not that long to cause 2 minutes sync offset in chapters 8O
I can't tell you what's wrong, because I've never experienced that!

@ All,

I find the way out of this problem. The problem is VCDEasy's visual chapter add--I means the video box in chapter tab. Do not use this to add chapter because it won't sync. You have to use VirtualDub or similar to open the video file and find the insert point you wants (use next/previous keyframe button). Then, copy the current time (text bar beside the buttons, close to Frame No.) and paste it in the VCDEasy's chapter list box.

Hope it helps,

Sukasem

PS. Sorry for my bad English
