What software will allow me to put 704x480 KVCD mpeg1 files on a DVD+RW disk without re-encoding them to mpeg2 (so that they can be played on a set top DVD player)?

Pete,

Have you tried using DvDLab 1.1....
it's really a kick-azz app.
http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html

It says it'll do 704x480 mpg2, not sure on mpg1 kdvd or kvcd'd files...
if not try Ulead's DvDWorkShop.

Im currently testing Vegas 4.0 with DvDArchitect,,
i'll have a look to see if it will 'do' the rez u want.

Thanks for the reply. DvDLab 1.1 looks like it might do it. I will check it out. Ulead DVD Workshop re-encodes non-standard formats to make them standard.

for DVD you will need 29 fps (NTSC) or 25 fps (PAL) 23/24 fps is not a compliant DVD frame rate.

Use pulldown to convet the video to 29 fps, I am not sure how you would convert the audio and not have it sound like "chipmunks"

Try TMPGEnc DVD Author. It accepts MPEG-2 23.976 with 3:2 pulldown flags. I've tested KDVD which encodes like that, and DVD Author works perfectly.

Actually, DVDLab 1.1 DOES accept files with pulldown on a frame rate of 23.96fps. Granted, this is with MPEG-2 files. I have yet to try pulldown on MPEG-1 files. Check the proggies forum. The support group is very good and very helpful.

By the by, DVDLab took the 2(!!) KDVD files that I through at it and made a very sweet looking DVD.
