KVCD: How to burn a kvcd with nero 6?

How can I burn a kvcd with nero 6? I know I have to uncheck [create standard compliant ]

but there is also a question about [try to fit discsize or userdefined] what do i do with that?

Mayby it is easier with vcdeasy? But do I have to do anything specific in that?

:?: thanx for youre replies :D

I do not use Nero 6 yet but for sure you have to select "userdefined" : Nero does'nt have to do anything to the video except burning it.

BTW, it's easier with VCDEASY, and you can add chapters with it.

When using Nero 6 after the Wizard scrren opens, look at the bottom left and you will see the word Nero, click on that and Nero "Standard" scrren will open. Just use Nero as you did with Nero 5. select VideoCD and uncheck compliant, add your mpeg file. At the top menu bar, select burn. Hope that helps.

Bud

I've done that with the compliant thing i'm just wondering about the encoding bitrate with the two options try to fit disc size and user defined

what do i do with them? because i've tried to make a skvcd but it won't work. (mydvd plays skvcd btw)

Bud 08-01-2003 02:45 PM

Sorry, can't help you on that one, I don't use Nero to do encoding, I do know that Nero will encode video providing you have all the Mpeg Plug-ins that are rquired to encode. As far as size I let CQMATIC and Moviestacker determine that for me. When I get to the point of using Nero I just burn and the file size is good.

nero 6 danger:

i found it now friends, please careful.
i have nero6 and don't install....read details and link:

"The German online magazine PCwelt.de reports that Nero 6
contains a 'bug' that could delete your entire harddrive.
The bug is introduced with the Nero 6 Recode project.
Bug might even not be the correct word for it, it seems more
that Ahead forgot to limit the feature to empty the
destination folder for temporarily files.

If this destination directory is set to the root of a disc (e.g C : )
and if the question: "Destination folder is not empty,
do you wish to clear it" is answered with yes, all files will be deleted.

hello.

i've been following some of the tips and guides here and other places, and trying to burn an skvcd, but i'm having a lot of difficulties.

i have nero6, vcdeasy and vcdgear.

i've tried burning the mpeg with nero as described above, but the disc doesn't play smoothly.

i've also tried creating bin/cue with vcdeasy and burning those as image files with nero, but i get the same result.

my film is "the.second.coming.-.skvcd.pal.[uffowich]" skvcd.

this is my first experience with skvcd. i did a couple of xsvcd's a year ago, but i don't remember how anymore.

can someone please tell me the correct tools and settings to use? i'm at the end of my rope with trying to follow different guides.

any help will be hugely appreciated.

thanks.

skvcd with vcdeasy then

oke nero 6 is no good, but how about vcdeasy.

How can I create a disc that will play in my dvd-player (stand alone) with vcdeasy (v 1.1.6)

please

Guys, it seems that your problem is whith KVCD, not with Nero !

I burned 2 KVCD today, one directly with Nero 6, the other by making a cue/bin under VCDEasy and just burning it with Nero 6 : everything is ok. Like it was with Nero 5.5.9 I used before.

As it is you first experience with KVCD, I guess that your players don't like KVCD format at all.

Did you try the KVCD samples provided by Kwag to test the compatibility of your players ?

Nordkapp 08-03-2003 03:09 PM

(no complaints with nero here)

I have tried a skvcd in my dvd-player (standalone) and it works perfectly, i got it as a bin/cue after burning with cdrwin it works. But the sample from skvd site doesn't work because vcdeasy doens't want to do it, and i just want instructions how to do it with nero 6, because nero 6 wants to change the bitrate (either himself or wants me to choose something) and i just want to know what settings to use.

You made it work! So please tell me what settings (all of them) you used!

eternelly grateful (apoligize for the english  i'm better at Dutch! :D

[is it skvcd or just kvcd "!?!?!]

Simple : I never use any wizard !

Go to normal Nero (not express one), load your video, when Nero complains about compatibility, answer you want to switch off compatibility complience and it will continue without doing anything on the video. All you have to do is to burn it.

That's all !

thats what i figured out today (btw i do'nt use hary potters). yhe problem was i unchecked the compliance thing to early, if you let nero complain and then say no it works!

Thanks

nero 6 not so good when it comes to erasing CD-RW's I have tried 3 cd-rw's and each one have been deemed unusable its like nero 6 erases and finalises the CD never to be used again.

i had already done the "compatibility" thing and i still got the choppy playback. i made bin/cue and straight vcd/xvcd/svcd/xsvcd with nero6 and always had the same result. so maybe my dvd player doesn't like kvcd.

anyway, i was able to overburn the film as data on an 800MB disc. i have a dvd player that plays data mpeg and data avi from a disc, so i could watch the film properly without a problem. i wanted to make the vcd in case any of my friends wanted a copy or if my player decided it didn't like the mpeg halfway through, so i wanted a backup.

still, this kvcd thing is a bit confusing. i've erad a lot about kvcd and skvcd and i don't understand how it differes from svcd/vcd/xvcd/xsvcd, because it seems to me that the nero settings are the same.

also, i've seen something called "MVCD" or "MKVCD" and i don't know what these are, or why the were invented or how they differ - or are better - than others.

D Rated 08-07-2003 06:48 PM

MVCD is a complete RIP-OFF of the KVCD technology, and they wouldn't even admit to it. Their matrix is EXACTLY the same as the one Kwag came up with. Kwag has several forum posts detailing this.
