Dvdshrink beta 3 to combine KDVDs!

Hello all:
Perhaps this has been already discussed, but, it appears that you can use the new dvdshrink, beta 3, to easily combine several kdvd video sources into 1 dvd disc. If this works, then we may not need dvdlab or any other author program for this.

still 2 things to worry about:
1.- The layer issue
2.- I do not know if dvdshrink changes the ifos or vobs, when using the no encode mode.

Thanks
Totonho
I am sure that Avalon is already working on a guide for this. I know that he is using the previous, 2.3 version, to compile his videos, but this new version is so handy for this..............

Totonho03,

It's a nice idea because then we would be able to author with a free tool. But still we wouldn't be able to create menus... I really think that's nice to have a menu to select the movie and chapters.. It's easy to create a simple menu and chapters from 10 to 10 minutes.
Anyway, if you don't care about menus, you can also author using the free tool IFOEdit, which even supports multiple audio tracks and subtitles. Check this guide: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/120013.php

Hi vmesquita:
I will check the site. Perhaps this will not happen with kdvd, but I have used dvdauthor before, and it has audio limitations as well as to delete subtittles. Has this been your experience as well w/kdvds?

Thanks.

P.S.- By the way, I downloaded the trial CCE v2.66 from D9 and it is now working with eclcce. I have 30 days to play around, and then, bye bye trial. I am waiting for Avalon to post how he can create his backups with v.2.67.

Thanks again

Hi Totonho03,

I generally author my stuff using DVDLab, but I use forced subtitles and only 1 audio track (DivX soures), so it's not hard stuff... :D DVDLab also has a full working 30-day trial and costs $79 so you might want to take alook here: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab It also handles out-of-spec stuff.

Yeah, I really wanted to know how to solve the 2.67 bug. ECLCCE is great, be sure to check hide cancel button and start at idle priority.

Vmesquita,

have you thought of maintaining the original chapters? I know, they usually can't be set exactly where they should be because of different I-frames in the resulting movie, but you can force I-frames and thus the chapters in CCE's project files using ChapterXtractor and Notepad. It's not very time-consuming, just 1-2 more minutes for each movie. And there must be some authoring program that can import chapter-lists..

You could add this to your guide 8)

New_bee,

That's great! I always keep the original chapters when I am doing DVD sources. And when I am doing DivX sources, I use the auto-chapters feature of DVDLab that creates chapters based on scene change. DVDLab can import chapter list from ChapterXtractor and I guess DVDMaestro also can do that... It would be a good plus to the guide!
