Authoring two DVD movies on one DVD-R?

Hopefully someone here can answer this question. I already tried on club.cdfreaks.com and no1 knows :cry:

Anyways, I have 2 movies that I want to put onto 1 DVD-R. I will be using DVD Shrink 2 to compress both movies so the size of both movies (combined) will be around 4.7GB.

Is it possible to put both movies onto 1 DVD-R disc after this process? If so how?

I also normally use Copy to DVD to back up DVD movies also but I don't know how to use it in this situation.

Thanx

Hi TCC,

The easiest way to do this, is to process the movie as "Movie only" with DVD Shrink. Just target each movie to be half the space of your DVD-R. After you have both movies processed on your HDD, use VobEdit to join your VOBs, and then process with IfoEdit to re-create all your .IFOs, and you'll be able to burn everything from a single VIDEO_TS folder.

Another way that may be helpful is to use tmpgs authoring app, it allows you to import dvd video, you just specify the titles you want to import.
It should also import the chapters for you as well. :)

TCC
i think DvDLab will accept vob's as well,,{not freeware though}
and join them up and let you specify chapters, menus, etc,,,
I like it cuz i can use AC3 for my sound.
Mind you, the way im doing my dvd-shrink-->2 dvd's to 1 dvd'r, is long and winded, but it works on my apex, it cuts out on my Pioneer.

i think my version of dvdshrink was either an rc1 or a beta,,cuz it never did work on my w2k pc.
i've stuck with dvd2one 1.1.3 {or 1.20} to do my compressions.}
It was either, my w2k setup, or my powerdvd, that i always experienced audio offsynch, or freeze ups or lockups, when using dvdshrink after viewing the vobs.
So i started using dvd2one instead, and came up with a {so i thought} a foolproof method to do 2 movies on 1 dvd'r {princo's} and playback on my apex1500. They work flawlessly on my apex but not my pioneer.
So for archival and playback i stick to the apex. its a bummer not playing them back on my pioneer upstairs, but oh well (maybe its too low a bitrate for dvd...)
i can go into detail on my method, but i warn ya, its long-winded,,,errr i mean thorough :lol: but its worked for me (using dvdlab) on my apex.
im starting to think its a mastering error when using dvdlab. Gotta try maestro or so, when time permits.

I'm using DVD Shrink 2 version 2.3

Hi TCC:

Is this the 3.0 beta 5 version? This is the version that will allow you to put 2 films nto 1. I understando that dvd20ne is working to combine 2 movies into one, but as of this moment they have not released it.

At any rate, please visit this site:
DVDShrink.info., and look for the guides section. Here you will find an excellent guide for dvdshrink.

Edited.- Now it contains the proper beswt version. Sorry if I created confusions with this post.

@Everyone,

Just tried DVD2One v 1.3.0 for combining "flipper" or 2 disc movie
to one DVD-R and it works great!!!! :D Very simple to use :wink:

Hello Bp.:

Have you compare the quality of d2O to that of dvdshrink v3. beta 5? and then, just to make it a bit more complicated, against vmesquitas's method?

@Hi Otto,

I found the DVD to KDVD is superior than D2O and DVDShrink for
movies longer than 150+ minutes. I compared D2O, DVDShrink and
DVD2SVCD (aka DVD2DVD) and D2D won hands down. I used
D2S v121 B2 and set the automation to stop at the DVD Author tab
which uses Sonic Senarist. I used DVDLab instead to manually author
and Imgtool to burn. CCE was the encoder I used and the time was 6
hours for a 186 minute DVD backup :wink: I'm looking at "mdvdauth"
in place of DVDLab which uses IfoEdit and VobEdit (freeware). It's
executed via D2D using "Autoit" a macro keystroke executer. D2D
will be using IfoEdit and VobEdit in a future releases so check Doom9
from time to time. :D So far it works OK if you don't want menus and
just a movie only. :D
