KVCD: Burning problems - CD-R are only 700mb?
 

Hi,

I'm a complete newbie to this VCD burning stuff, and it's got my brain spun in so many different directions that it's hard to work out how to do what, where.

Here's the thing: I recently got hold of a KVCD file. Now, as far as I can muster, KVCD's are designing to fit on your average 80-minute CD-R, correct? Well, the one I've got is near 800mb's in size, while my CD-R's are only 700mb's. Is there some way in which I'm meant to compress this file in order for it to fit onto my CD? Or, do I have to split it in two? I need a bit of guidance since any guides or FAQ's I look at merely confuse me.

The specs for the file in question are: NTSC - Duration: 92 minutes - Size: 352x240.

If someone could point me in the right direction as to how I would go about burning this file to a regular 700mb 80-minute CD-R, then that would be hugely appreciated - and please dumb your instructions down as best you can as any VCD lingo you use I'll probably be totally oblivious to. lol.

On one CD-R 80 700 MB can you store average 800 MB in Video-CD or S-Video-cd modus.
So you can burn your 800 MB file on one 700 MB CD by Nero or VCDEasy. :wink:

Ok, thanks for that. Would this mean that my CD-ReWriter needs to support "overburn" in order to copy the VCD?

No. Near 800mb is just fine with 80 min.

This can happens if you have a MPEG-1 file and want to burn as SVCD I think or the other way

The file I'm using is MPEG-1, and the VideoCD type I chose with VCDEasy is "VCD 2.0" so I'm not so sure that's the case.

Can it be that you have muxe false the Video not Video-CD (non-Stanadrt)?
If it's so then you can't store 800 MB on a CD only If You have Choose:

standard or Nonstandard settings as you mention do not affect CDromXA Mode 2!!!!!
This depends on the burning mode NOT on the muxing or authoring mode

Try to demultiplex the file with TMPGEnc MPEG Tools to video and audio and multiplex them again with the same application but selecting "MPEG-1 Video CD (non standart). After that give the new .mpg file to VCDEasy.
