i now have my precious vcd... question... how do i protect it from being copied?

is there anyway to secure it from malicious persons who might borrow it and just copy it?

what software should i use? is nero 5.5 capable of "copy-protecting" cd's

thanks...

You cant!. You can just copy the .dat file out of any VCD and run it through VCDGear, and change it again to a .mpg. Then re-burn your new VCD. The .dat file, which is your complete movie, cannot be protected in any way, because it would choke on a standalone DVD/VCD player.

This is EXACTLY what I'm trying to do and it seems like half the time the converted mpg doesn't work- would you happen to know the correct settings in vcd gear or do you know of another dat->mpg conversion program?

btw- I have fix mpeg errors checked,
rewrite mpeg header disabled and file splitting disabled

thanks,
ren

Hi ren,
Have you tried demuxing the .mpg and re-muxing it again with TMPEG?
You can also try MPEGRepair http://www.pixeltools.com/MpegRepair.html
There's a demo available for download. I know there are other programs to repair mpeg files, but I can't recall the names now. I'll look around and let you know.

You can also try bbtools 1.9, available from the download section on doom9.org, and use BBDMUX.EXE. It's a command line tool. So you'll need to open a DOS or CMD prompt to use it.

I have a bunch of mpeg2 captures (that I did with Windvr & Nero a while ago) on cdrs- and I've been trying to re-encode these but now I think I've finally got it

In Isobuster->extract but FILTER m2f2 mpeg frames
load mpg files into DVD2AVI
load d2v in tmpgenc

SO FAR..SO GOOD

hey bapski,

I saw this guide at vcdhelp: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/107898.php
I haven't tried it- and probably won't, but I remembered this thread and just wanted to mention it
