Converting SVCD to DVD - same quality?

if i re-encode svcd files mpeg2 480*576 into dvd 720*576 with 8000kbps would i lose quality? or would the quality of the video be the same?

EVERY "RE"-Encoding means quality loss ... maybe it depends on how many bitrate you will use when reencoding ... but there will be a loss.

It makes no sense to throw that much bitrate out of the window just for getting a SVCD soure on a DVD burned ... I know your intention.

So u should first try the Header Trick on the Svcd mpeg source before importing into a DVD authoring appl. and see if your player supports it.

And it stands in no relation to use a higher avg bitrate like yours .. as this also would end up in one movie but just on one DVD.

Or do you refer to max Bitrate??? As that only will make it not better.
