Avisynth: Rough old movie type film filter?
 

Hi Forum,
I have now at last successfully installed the new AVS 2.5 filter system and intial results are pretty impressive. However I tried a back up using the 2.5 optimum script on a retail version I own of Zulu Dawn. I noticed from running the D2V through the filter in media player that the film is of the old quality and its texture is somewhat rough compared to new modern film. My question is what filter can I use to add to the 2.5 optimum script to smooth out the old rough film a bit. Hope this description makes sense.
Any help would be appreciated.

The question is : why should you remove the old-film look? If you remove all the grain, you'll remove all details. The grain is often part of the details.

And you plan to answer to all post with this ? :banghead:

I read the replies thanks to all. However in answer to my question, IF I wanted to do what i described is there such a filter to clean up old movies... Anybody?? and what would a typical setting be in a script for an old 1970's movie???

Try RemoveGrain + RemoveDirt.

But where do I get the RemoveGrain filter from. it is not listed at Avisynth.org

See the Doom9 forum, there's an own thread for both filters. You might also find the site with Google, I don't remember the exact address where the filters can be downloaded.
