SansGrip Filters: FluxSmooth AND NomoSmooth ?

Hi SansGrip, I think this one goes out to you

I tried the blockbuster filter together with the fluxsmooth filter, and the results were just awesome... I also still use Temporal Smoother (2,2) for noisy VHS Captures...

But why would you use two smoothing filters (Nomosmooth and fluxsmooth) ?? wouldn't that be too many filters??

Flux 0.3 works really really well on clean-to-moderately-noisy sources, particularly DVD. With very noisy sources, though, you're right: an extra smooth with a temporal softener can help, though 2,2 is fairly strong in combination with Flux. 0.4, when it's released, will also do chroma smoothing, which I find helps quite a bit with noisier sources.

I personally -- based on theoretical reasons -- would use one or the other. NoMo's temporal smoothing is pretty much the same as Flux's in temporal-only mode. The main difference is that Flux will smooth temporally and spatially (if you tell it to) if it detects a fluctuating pixel. NoMo will temporally smooth static areas and spatially smooth areas in motion.

8) thanks SansGrip. I'll stick to FluxSmooth ONLY... I'll probably use TemporalSmoother (2,1) in the future...

Ooops I just noticed I'm using 0.3 of FluxSmooth... I'll check out your new version...

thanks SansGrip

Disregard my comment about 2,2 being too aggressive -- I misread "TemporalSmoother" as "TemporalSoften". Out of interest, how do the two filters differ?

You've probably discovered this already, but 0.3 is the latest released version. I'm still working on 0.4, which does include chroma smoothing.

Sorry I never used TemporalSoften... :D For Noisy sources TemporalSmoother (2,2) together w/ fluxsmooth, + blockbuster just kills all noise while remaining great detail...
Thanks again for all the work SansGrip...
