file prediction only for kvcd3x template?

i just encoded a file with the kvcd KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_-PLUS template and used the values file prediction gave me.
the file should have a size of 340MB but it got 394MB.

does the file prediction method only fit for the kvcd3x template?

File prediction is for every resolution, as long as the GOP remains 24 max frames. If your source is not DVD, if it's DivX or some other captured AVI, then prediction might not be so accurate.

my source file was .mpg

max number of frames in a GOP: 24

that should be ok, shouldn´t it?

Hi Kane,

Yes it should. Did you use: Sampler(length=24) in your script :?:

yes i did

at the moment i encode with
cq 100
max bitrate 1800
min bitrate 1000
KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_-PLUS template

the sample was smaller than the sample predicted with the file prediction method, so the output file shouldn´t be bigger, than i want it to be

something goes completely wrong :?
the file should be smaller than 360MB but it is 428MB!!!
i just don´t know why....

the only setting i made was to set the fps from 29,97 to 23.976
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

next try with kvcd3x template
max bitr: 2500
min bitr. 300
cq 63
file should be 360MB, actual size 373MB

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

i read something about a factor 0.98 or 0.98
if i use this factor in file prediction, the sample should be smaller, i guess.
perhaps this will solve the problem
