@ovg64,

You can get the filters all bundled together if you download the program "MovieStacker" :wink:

hi!!

do these "noise around edges" look like blurs of colors on the contours of almos all subjects (objects) on screen, specially the moving ones??

i got what seems to be a similar effect to what you called "noise around edges", and i;m trying to fix that. what i get is something like an "aura" of blured information around the subjects of the movie, even the still ones. i dont get it on 704x500, but if i lower the resolution, i start getting a lot, to the point of unwatchable if i use 350x240 resolution.

i wonder if we are talking about the same thing!

PEACE!

What you have is probably what we call "color rainbow".

Try to use the filter Cnr2 to fix that. Or perhaps the new Mipsmooth (I saw in the documentation a settings for reduce color rainbow).

Dialhot,

thanks a lot for the reply!

its hard to explain it in english, but the "effect" doesnt look like a rainbow actually, where you could easily see the separation of colors.

it looks like a "blur", a region of noise, like if i applied that tool in Photoshop where i "blur" that specific point or dot in the image. forgot the name of the tool...

and i get this "effect" usually all around the subjects that are displayed on screen, variyng a lot in intensity and presence or not, but you could say that they constantly have this blur around them, at least in some spot of their body/size.

one thing i noticed is that if i encoded to the highest possible CQ, the so called X-Vcd, i get almost none or very little of this effect. While if i use the standard VCD resolution, i get this all around and also a very poor image quality in overall.

what i STILL dont get is why i download many 352x240 excellent quality mpegs from Kazaa, most of them from VHS sources, while my DVD originals give out horrible quality mpegs!!!!

anyone have an answer to that?

thanks!!

PEACE!!

Mabhz
