it wasn't so BUGGY!!! I'm curious if anyone here uses this and if you have had any luck with it. I have had nothing but bad luck- wrong frame count, scrambled picture.

Now I'm going to try VHELP's mini guide to frameserving mpeg-1

Tried using MPEGDecoder and encountered the same problems as you did.
Dropped frames, duplicate frames, wrong frame count, de-interlace and
more. It's suppose to replace DVD2AVI and speed up encoding time.
My interest was to reduce encoding times for MPEG-1 close or less than
CCE. The best hope for that now is Tmpgenc>GOP>Force Picture
Type>Settings. Kwag started playing with this approach. I hope he
continues investigating this possibility. You can increase encoding coding
speed by using less filters, improve picture quality by using bitrate
where it improves the picture quality the most
