Hi Cheronaph

Is your Avisource a capture? If so, the noise elements still left after filtering will still create a higher than usual bitrate. Have a look at a small sample of an mpeg at say CQ50 in Bitate viewer. Most of my KVCD encodes from DVD source usually give 1 to 1.5Mb/s Average (CQ60) but with AVI sources it goes over 2. Personally I keep it down using Convolution3d.

But then, I'm doing NTSC, so I can't compare to any PAL stuff

Could it be that the source is .avi, by the way motion adaptive filtering is 2 times faster!
