kwag, why don't you just lock the thread if you don't want anyone posting to it ?

Because then I lock myself out too, and it's a pain having to unlock it to bump the thread so everyone can see it, and then lock it again :!:
The thread doesn't "bump" to "new posts" by editing :x

Yes, but the idea is that if there is a change, when you log back in you would see the thread as new post. The way phpBB works, is that if you edit a post, it doesn't show as a change. Only a line on the post saying the date modified. The only way I can show to users when they log back in, is to actually post in that thread. So that's what I do. I make a new post, basically roll the content of the last post to a new post, and then kill the previous post. This way when you log back in, you'll see the thread as if someone had replied to it :) It's clumsy (for me to maintain!), but it works :!:
