So thanx for the advice!

I will modify the script at the "fade"-lines above.

You can avoid all these "convertTo" from a colorspace to the other by using the smartdeinterlace filter taht is includec in mpeg2dec from dividee (http://users.win.be/dividee/avisynth.html)

Not sure it can handle YV12 but you can do all your job in YUY2 that is supported by all the filter you used

Wow ... good, I'll try it with the integrated smart deinterlacer, ... maybe it offers the same quality ... sounds more incomplicated ;-)

But I think GripFit will have problems with YUY2() or not??
Well I really had problems ... :-(

Not at all. All your script can be run in YUY2 colorspace if smartdeinterlace don't support YV12 (wich is better, so test it first).

Gripfit, asharp, mergeluma, mergechroma, blur, fluxsmooth, stmedianfilter : they all work in both color spaces.

asharp() does not work for me in YUY2. It gives different colour tones on the left than on the right side of each frame.

Does the smartdeinterlace give better performance than FieldDeinterlace() in scripts?

This is not asharp that give this splitted screen but the command "scriptclip". Asharp is ok in YUY2 when used in static clip.

No, because smartdeinterlacer (well, the VirtualDub one in the Script above for shure) uses an adaptive deinterlacing method. Its slower but the Quality is defenitely better. I tried a lot of deinterlacers, with and without adaptive deinterlacing routines and I stuck with smart deinterlacer cause it gives me the best in relation between speed and quality.
You can see at www.100fps.com various kinds of deinterlacing methods and the pro & contras.

@ All, especially at DialHot:
But ... I'm not at the end of my experiences so every advice based upon deinterlacing is welcome too!

The only experience I have with a interlaced source was on a bonus of a DVD, not the movie itself. So I don't have any hint for you on this poin.On the opposite, I read everyhing (for my part I do not like smartdeinterlace at all because of the results it gives on my one and only example).

Man you're fast!

Well I also tried "Deinterlace_MAP", very good quality, but an the other hand very slow even when encodig with my xp1800+ @ 2400 Mhz @ 221 FSB

Yes, I also had a nice experience with a nice mixture of interlaced 29,97 & progressive 23,97 contents on a DVD ...

How's the weather in Paris?

If you want to use area based deinterlacing, I recommend Xesdeeni's Avisynth port of SmoothDeinterlace (originally by Gunnar Thalin). It requires YUY2, however.
