FixOversharp+Film scratch detection?
 

I was wondering: Could the way you use to detect the Oversharped borders be used to detect film scratches?

Hm... Isn't there a filter in VDub that does this?

As to the idea of hacking FixVHS for this, I would think so. Basically, you would be looking for a sudden white line (vertical only?) that doesn't appear in the preceeding and following frames. (Sort of a two temporal FixVHS.) The FixVHS repair code would probably be very good for smoothing in the scratched area.

I would expect this filter to be relatively slow since you probaby would have to load 5-10 frames at a time. (Just like TemporalSmoother does.)

I'd need to see some video on this before I could say either way.

For now, however, someone else will have to work on this. I'm working heavily on a new Logo remove filter. (To be released very soon.)

If someone wants to work on this, let me know, I'll send you the source to FixVHS. (the source to FixVHS is not ready for public release - > its a mess)

Well most of the times the most of the times vertical line is black not white.But both cases could be taken into acount.I'd like receiving the code.I guess Neuron2 would be glad to receive it too, cause he is working on a Declick filter for Avisynth.
Nop, Vdub doesn't have this kind of filters.I've been asking for a long time to increase Vdub image restoration abilities with no or little success.The greatest success I've achieved was a deconvolution filter ported from GIMP.

Ps.Yes they are sudden lines sometimes and some other times they last many frames.
