Widescreen Code?
 

hey im doing kvcd dvd rips, and all my moviesm weather they are widescreen or not, end up being full screen. im useing the newest script, and it see where it says to add letterbox values, but i dont know what the values shoulkd be, what they should be written like, and how to find out what they should be. so could someone point me in the right direction?

Use gripfit.dll and use dest_source=anamorphic.

Excuse me audi2honda but giving such a line won't help a lot :-).
The correct syntax is :
(and never use "dest_anamorphic = true" except if you are making anamorphic KDVD).

I allways use dest_anamorphic=True on my KVCDs. It's the only way I can get the correct aspect ratio for my 16x9 TV. Anything else letterboxes the movie and I get black bars unless it's a 4:3 movie which most aren't.

It does look distorted when viewed on a 4:3 tv, but I'm not worried about that.

It's strange to read that your 16x9 TV set hasn't got a "Zoom" mode to handle 4:3 programs : 100% of the TV show are in 4:3 ! How can you watch them in this case ? With black borders on the right and left sides ?

Yeah, that's right, my answer was for 4:3 TYV set. Except if this TV set can handle also a 16:9 program (like mine).

But one thing : do you switch your TV manually to 16:9 when you read a KVCD ? Because mine do not do the swich automatically and I have to enter in setting menu by hand, it's boring :-(

Hi Dialhot, yes my TV has stretch or zoom modes to handle 4:3 content, which works great for regular TV, but if you have a anamorphic DVD and encode it to 4:3 it puts black bars on the top and bottom. Then if I stretch it I get the same bars. I could zoom in enough to get the bars off the screen, but then I lose detail in the main picture as it is stretched so much.

Ok. I understand. All is matter of choice between loose some quality by the lower CQ used because you encode in anamorphic or loose it by the zoom of the TV. That's a difficult choice I agree.

Yea I'm not sure if the lower CQ or the zoom is better, but for now I'm using the lower CQ and more bits of anamorphic :D

u think someone can make a TMPGenc Template of a widescreen?

You can :-)

You open tmpgenc, you load the template, you click on "setting" button and go to "advanced" tab. There you have the "video arrange method" taht is set to "'Center" or "Full screen" (don't remember exactly). You change it for "Center (keep aspect ratio)" or "Full screen (keep aspect ratio)". Return to "Video" tab, in "Aspect ratio" choose either "16:9 NTSC" or "16:9 PAL" following what you are doing.

Then click on ok, and "save" : you just did a widescreen template :-))

Just hope that is working. I'm not sure to the value to give to the parameters but I gave you all the things you have to change. If I made some mistakes, you just have to "play" a little with other possible values till you find the correct ones.
