Avisynth for 352x240/288 resolution KVCD?

Yesterday I encoded a Journey concert. I thought I made a VCD compatible movie but the audio stuttered when I tried to play it on my brothers DVD player. It looked like the audio freaked out when there was very little movement in the video. Could this be related to the min video bitrate perhaps? The player I mentioned is a Pioneer DV-525.
Another thing: What are the recommended settings for min & max bitrate when encoding a KVCD in VCD resolution. I saw on the templates that the max bitrate for static scripts is 1800 so I'm guessing that this could be lowered when using the MA script, or am I wrong? If I'm not wrong, what is the recommended max bitrate with the MA script? Apart from the bitrate problem I used CQ_VBR, motion estimate search.

I think that player doesn't like MPEG-1 very much :!:
Try the same resolution, but MPEG-2 ( with 3:2 pulldown )

MA does rise the CQ and therefore the Quality in the choosen AVG Bitrate.
Because it unsharpens fast movement parts of the served videostraem by avisynth. And thats the purpose to unsharpen parts of the movie where you won't recognise this (exept the static foreground object/fast background - problem in some cases).
The high bitrate needings at Peaks in the bitratecurve do not only stand in relation only to sharp or unsharp frames.
It depends what happens.!

Do a test on a movie with Bitrateviewer.
You will see that there at static scenes where much dark is included but very sharp objects, the bitarte still is very low assigned by the CQ mode of the encoder.
And if you see a scene where for example a close up to a Diamond occurs where you can see sparcles=Bitratepeaks, or another example: watermovement! in river-sea scenes the Bitrate "Blows up"! And in these high scenes the NF value of MA won't rise that much cause the average/previous luma (NF) factor of the frames wont't differ seen in the whole that much as in comparison to the needed high bitrate.

So, lowering the max bitrate in VBR encodings do (IMHO) depend on what scenes the movie contains.
