Hi folks!

I'm totally new to this whole scripting thing.
Here's what I wanna do:

My original source source was realmedia (.RM) in vcd resolution at a very low bitrate, thus the whole video is noisy and full of artefacts.
I converted the RM source to avi (xvid, 1pass, 8000kbits, pcm audio) using EO Video. I used the space wasting settings to avoid any further quality loss, and since xvid used only 200-500kbit after all, you can imagine the quality isn't nearly good.

Now I want to convert the avi to mpeg2, recovering image quality as much as possible.
I did a test with TMPGenc's Noise Reduction plugin, and it turned out very good if I set first two settings to maximum.
Still picture: 100
Range: 4
Time axis parameter won't change much.

Due to the content of the video (animation), the loss of details won't bother me, but Noise reduction (at least with these settings) takes soooo long.

So I wondered if any Avisynth plugin exists that does the same thing as TMPG's noise reduction (remember: all bars at maximum!), but is a bit faster.
I tried several external Avisynth plugins from the their homepage, but they either blurred the whole image, or just didn't remove the artifacts.

Is there any plugin you could recommend? What settings will I have to use?

Avisynth can do whatever you do in tmpgeng POWER 100.

Deen, PixieDust, VagueDenoiser, NoMoSmooth, Convolution3D... All will give you better and faster results.

In you case you can try for instance deen() or Convolution3D(preset="animeHQ") or "animeBQ" if very bad.

Or you can see my scripts for avi->kvcd in the related section of the forum (but they are not optimized for Anime).

Note: think to reduce the GOP length to 15 picture with Anime. Results are far better.
