Avisynth: Problem with filters

Needless to say, I'm a newbie. I tried to create a kvcd of 'The Ring'. My problem, I used the latest script for DVD input, but no matter what I did Avisynth kept giving me a message that the filters weren't Avisynth filters. I had downloaded all filters called for in the script, placed them in the Avisynth folder and edited the script directing it to their location.

I have Avisynth 2.5. Am I using the wrong version perhaps? Is there no substitute for Avisynth?

BTW, I did remember to edit out any quote marks, etc. I do own the DVD, I just need a copy because mine is getting scratches on it.

I finally gave up on the Avisynth step and proceeded from the DVD2AVI file instead and used TMPGEnc. The result looked and sounded great on my PC, however, not small enough for one cd.

Thanks for any input, Randa

Copy the exact text of the error and copy the script please.

Does a script with just "Version()" works correctly ?
Do you have avs2.5.3 or 2.5.4 at least ? Not 2.5.2 ?

Move your downloaded filter plugins to the avisynth plugin folder and remove the "LoadPlugin" lines from your script.

Are you sure you downloaded the right filters? You say you have 2.5x, make sure you didn't download the 2.0x filters.

Don't give up on using filters, as they greatly improve compression without losing picture quality. :)
