Hi,Im usinn cce for kdvd encodes and up til now have always used dialhots v4 script for my kdvd encodes, and have been reasonably pleased with the results.Thought id give the MA script a go but am surprised by the difference in speed. With the v4 script i get an average speed of around 0.5,which means that the movie takes twice as long to encode as it lasts, but with the ma script in cce Im getting a speed of 0.05 so im lookin at 55hrs for a 3 hour movie. Is this right,im not tryin to see how fast ppl can encode,i just want to know if its normal for the MA script to be 10 times slower than the V4 script? Any tips would be gratefully received, such as which versions of which filter are fastest, etc

It takes me 4 to 5 hours for a 3 hour movie using the ma script for dvd material and the same for dialhot's v4 script using avi source.

Are you using that on a DVD or an avi (as source) ?
Do you have always the same diff or you tested only on one source ?

I also have a big diff between the two, but not a 10x one. Let say 2-2.5x.

Both scripts run faster with avisource, but with mpeg2 source the ma script runs around 10 times slower than your V4 script.Ive now checked a few different sources and always the same,ma is working way too slow compared to V4.For now I will stick with that, til i can get ma working properly for me.All can think of doing is replacing all the filters and see if that improves matters.

You should look towards the YV12 filter installed on your PC. Whatever the source (mpeg2 or avi) you need a YV12 codec. We generally use XVID for that as it is the faster and best one.

Don't worry, if you have xvid, this is the one taht is used. It's merit it upper than all other one.
