problem connecting tv to video card

I have connected my tv to my ati 9200 video card via s-video cable and the picture is black and white for some reason. What might the problem be? Also what should the refresh rate be?

the tv is apex pf3225

thanks

I also had the same problem with a nVidia TNT2 based card.
I even tried tvtool which is known to be the best tool to connect a VGA card to the TVset but no way...
The card had a jumper to set between PAL and NTSC but it was in the right position.
I never knew what I was doing wrong ren...
Maybe someone can give us a hand.
Cheers

Hi ren,

Did you try connecting it via Composite video, and see if it's still BW :?:

hi kwag, the video card doesn't have a composite jack. I installed tvtool not knowing that it only supports nvidia based chipsets. Is there a tool like this for ATI ?

Sorry ren. I forgot to mention that to you.

I now own an ATI Radeon 9200 and the first thing I did was get the latest drivers for it and check if there was something like tvtool for it.
I didn't find anything :(
If you find it yourself send me a PM

Where do you plug the cable on TV side ? In a S-Video outlet or using the SCART outlet ?

IF it's the scart, it is S-Video compatible ? Not all the SCARTS on a TV handle all the signals. Mine for instance has 3 SCARTs, and 1 is composite/S/RGB, second is S/composite and third composite only.

Mine Radeon9000pro VIVO has S-Video outlet, but my box retail version was with cros conectror S-Video -> composite. You have one :?:

Humm,
Interesting, Phil.
I wasn't aware of that. I though that if I have a Scart then it has all the features.
Thanks for clarifying that.
I'll look into my TV set owner's manual.

hey Rui,

I got it working now. I just had to adjust some settings in the control panel. I went to Display > Settings > highlight monitor #2 then Advanced > Displays > Tv > Format > ntsc. There's also an app that is on the Ati cd called "Hydravision" this lets you configure the desktop to your tv.

Hi Ren,
Thanks for the tip.
I'll try that when I bring the TV set back to my "office-room" (can't find a better description for it ).
Cheers
