Which capture program under Windows XP?

Hello,

I'm using Windows XP Pro with an Hauppauge WinTV capture card. I've installed the latest WDM drivers from Hauppauge. I would like to capture from a satellite source. As mentioned in the FAQ:

"...If you are capturing from a VHS tape or TV ( Satellite, etc. ), you capture at 352x480, not at 352x240. This way you get both fields..."

Ok, my goal is to capture at 352x480 (NTSC) with the HuffYUY codec and then convert to xVCD. I know most people use VirtualDub but this program is based on Video-For-Windows technology. Under Windows XP, VirtualDub uses the Microsoft WDM-to-VFW wrapper. And this wrapper only allows capture resolution of up to 320x240. I think that VirtualDub 2 will support WDM drivers. I've read a lot about the subject and people suggest to use a Direct-Show capture program.

Which Direct-Show capture program should I use? I've already tried iuVCR and it has problems with the HuffYUY codec.

Thanks,

Virtual7

Hi Virtual7,

Go here: http://btwincap.sourceforge.net
Download their drivers. Now you can cap at just about any resolution and frame rate you want. Will work just fine with Vdub.

Thanks!

Thanks Kwag!

I've tried the btwincap drivers and they allowed VirtualDub to capture at any resolution! Now I'm gonna use VirtualDub Sync.
