.vcr is mpeg-2. If you do not want to convert use the mpeg-2 (HW) preset in MMC and it will save a single mpeg-2 PS.

Exactly how do I set the preset in MMC?

Click on "Setup" and under the "Personal Video Recorder" tab click on "Map Preset". The only two options that will work with HiDef are "mpeg-2 (sw)" and mpeg-2 (hw). Realtime capturing to other formats will not work because you will peg your cpu. The fastest way to convert your files is using MMC's Media Library. I am currently trying Project X to demux/repair "Episode 2:Attack of the Clones"and then edit/reencode to fit on one DVD. The original is 1280 x 720 @ 59.94 fps, recorded in mpeg-2 (hw) to a single PS. I gave up on using GB-PVR for recording anything that I want to keep since the most stable file format ended up being .dvr-ms and that is no good for anything but viewing, at least for HiDef content. I like that MMC records to program stream. Good luck.

The 59.94 fps has me a bit confused. When you get everything working, I would really appreciate a step-by-step. I am receiving some channels without picture display, only sound. As it records ok, I assume it's my on-board video. (No slots open to install a video card.)

Are you finding any of your captures to be a bit dark and fuzzy? Some of mine are, some of mine aren't. Probably need to add filters in avs.

Also, what steps are you currently using?

Record in mpeg-2 (hw)
What steps do you use after capture to produce DVD files? I want to encode to save several episodes to 1 dvd and use DVDLab Pro.

The easiest and fastest way to get to DVD is to transcode your file in MMC's library. Right click on your file and choose "export". Pick a DVD profile, double click on it and edit it to your liking.

Finally installed my ATI HDTV Wonder card in my old HP Pavillion 2.53GHx w/ XPHome. As I only have onboard vidio graphics and as only 480 broadcasts show on the screen (sound but no video for 720/1080), I suppose I need to get a graphic card.
