DScaler and capturing

how come when I use dscaler to capture and then play the captured file full screen the quality drops considerably than playing it at normal size?

Probably because you're capuring at a low resolution then stretching the picture.

The quality always decreases when "stretching" to a higher resolution...the KVCD PocketPC templates wouldn't look very good full screen! :wink:

this is before I process to mpg, also how do I alter the height? I know I can specify the width but the height is locked 288 I have looked in the ini file and cannot find anyway of changing it.

hi andybno1,

* what capture app are you using ??
* what is your capture driver ie, VFW or WDM ??
* also, what mode ie, BTYUV, YUV9, YV12, YUY2, YVU9, 24-bit RGB etc. ??

When you stretch your .AVI clip to fullscreen, (pending which AVI app you
use to open and play) it my not work very well, and may give you poor
quality during play for sever possible reasons:

* A, the .AVI file is on another HD or Network, (this is taxing)
* B, the .AVI file is being converted from whatever format mode you used
.. (see above YUV9, YV12 etc)
* C, other "pain in the butt" stuff

ok, the card is hauppauge 878 vfw and the prog is in the title vhelp dscaler. Dscaler doesn't say what mode its capturing in but it might be 15bit rgb,(the same as in vdub) I have captured in vdub at the same resolution and had no probs, could it just be the deinterlacing dscaler does I'm not sure.
