KVCD matrix question

This may be a dumb question so bear with me please :)

I know you can use the kvcd matrix if you can edit your mpeg encoder matrix while capturing direct to mpeg1, can this be done with non mpeg codecs?

I have a standalone dvd player that plays divx, xvid, etcetera and have noticed that some of these codecs allow for the quantizer matrix to be altered. Would using the kvcd matrix be advisable or is it specifically for mpeg only?

Thanks!

Dave

Hi Dave,

It was designed only with MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 in mind.
I believe the results are not very good with other CODECs.

Thanks for the info, I did try using the kvcd matrix with xvid as you can edit the quantize matrix for it and it works quite well when viewed on my standalone player which supports, in a roundabout way, the kvcd format and plays xvid, etcetera.

It didnt look as nice on my computer though :)

PS KVCD is brilliant, thankyou!
