Anyone got a tip for how to make a good encoding when the capture is with subtitles. If you sharpen the picture the sub. looks "better" but the movie get more sharp blocks, and if you dont do anything the subtitles get so blurry that you barely can read them.

If you're capturing from a VHS with subtitles, the only thing I can think of is to use something like Flaxen's VHS filters for VirtualDub.

Because the subtitles are part of your capture, there's not much you can do. It's not the same as if they were from a DVD rip, that they are super-imposed in the video.

Hi!

For subtitles that are located in the bottom black bar (not overlapping the video), you can use VD unsharp filter to sharpen only this area of the screen.

Just a suggestion. Haven't tested myself.
