Linux: Anybody use transcode software?

Has anyone had any luck using 'transcode' to make a kvcd/kdvd? Is it even possible?

Hi jonny_eh,

transcode suffers from all the problems of mencoder, ffmpeg, QuEnc, etc., because it relies on libavcodec.

Problems? I thought that libavcodec was great? I remember reading a few months ago that libavcodec was starting to return amazing, if not consisten, results.

I just asked about transcode because it seems a little less cumbersome to use than mencoder. On the other hand, it might be missing some of that customizability that mencoder has, meaning that the kvcd notch matrix can't be applied?

Kwag, do you have a recommended script, or method, for converting media to KDVD? That question may be too broad, I apologize :)
