Bad computer power supply ?

I just recently put together a system with parts I got from newegg.com:

Athlon 64 3000+ cpu
Asus K8V Deluxe motherboard
Aspire X-Infinity case w/ 350w power supply

after I powered it up I noticed the fans and drives that were connected to one "leg" of the supply (circuit I guess) had no power so I connected those devices to the other working one. I installed windows xp and I kept getting various blue screens of death with different kinds of errors. One error in particular was that the bios is not acpi compliant but acpi is enabled in the bios. Could these errors be resulting from the supply being bad? I'm probably going to order a Thermaltake 500w supply soon.

Thnx,
ren

Hi ren :),
It depends...
Is the suspected file 'win32k.sys' always the same to popup 1st in these BSoDs?
If the file name to popup 1st in the BSoDs is more than this one then it could be anything from a bad memory module to a nasty virus.
Taking for grated that your PC is in good secure hands in terms of virus/worms I'd start by checking
the memory modules with maybe http://www.memtest86.com.
Or the CPU/BUS speed configured through the Mainboard jumpers or in the BIOS.
You need to be sure that the whole system is not overclocked or something.
Maybe Jorel can help more than this.
Cheers

Hi Rui, actually the bsod shown isn't mine (i didn't take a pic of it) but my errors say things relating to ACPI, for example "your system bios is not ACPI compatible". I know it is compatible though because I have it enabled.

Thanks,
ren
