Which image did u use?
What do you think about it?
Is it good compared with smoothwall?
I mean if you only look at it as a Firewall with VPN support and WiFi AP mode ;-)
Keep us updated on your experiences with it and please let us know what hardware was involved and the features you're currently using.
Cheers buddy :D

I used the generic PC image, and "dd'ed" (raw written) it into my 32MB "Pen Drive", with space to spare  :D

I just booted it on my PC workstation to test it, but sadly, the machine I use as firewall doesn't boot from USB :(
So I just changed the BIOS option on my workstation just to test it, and it booted fine right into the main configuration menu :)
I'll have to burn the CD image to test it on my firewall, which will be late tonight ;)

You can breathe now Rui
M0NoWall is up and running ;)
I configured Traffic shaper, and it works great :!:
I'm connected through the firewall right now.
I'll be playing with the other options for a while now :)

Hey :!:
I know that port
And I bet my *ss that it's gotta work.
Remember my cousin?
He's working with m0n0wall and he's making use of that specific port.
Are you sure you did everything by the book?
Maybe I'll ask Jose if he know a trick or something.
Don't give up
Cheers pal

kwag 10-26-2004 03:54 AM

Please ask him :!:
Because I tried every option, and I could just not get it to work (you know, the program on that port  )
So please let me know

Sure I know, and it's not only that port, there's at least another one you'll need, and that is if you don't need to control that tool remotely otherwise you'll need a 3rd one ;-)
No sweat, I'll give him a call on skype tonight 8)
Hopefully he'll know what we're doing wrong.
Cheers

Thing is, I tried opening a whole block of ports, even UDP, and still nothing.
I have exactly the same rules on my regular FreeBSD firewall, and they work flawlessly.

Still haven't been able to reach him
Maybe I have more luck at night.
Karl, there's got to be a way, after all m0n0wall is based on FreeBSD 8)
And Jose is currently using it at home, not to mention he is installing it with Soekris boards and cases on his customers which also use those particular ports :P
Stay tuned ;-)
Cheers

Yes, but there's no shell (telnet/ssh) that I can access, and check the firewall rules.
What I did was I telnetted to an external system, and telnetted back to my server, trying the ports, and they are all closed.
Are you sure Jose has this working?
Maybe some ports work, and others don't :!:
Ask him if he can try the same ports I did.
This is the issue I wrote the E-Mail back to the developer of M0n0, a long time ago.

Hi Rui,

Last night I sent Manuel an E-Mail, asking him about the possibility of doing a m0n0wall version in NetBSD :)
Let's see what he replies ;)
