Sygate problems

@anyone,

I've been helping a friend troubleshoot a problem with "sygate" firewall.
He gets his email via MSN which uses IM. He has "avast" anti-virus also.
Everything worked fine with these programs getting his email, then
avast reported an email virus from MSN and deleted it. Now "sygate"
is blocking his email. I disabled "sygate" temporarily and the mail downloads
to MSN. Turn "sygate" back on and it's blocked. I displayed the program
rules for sygate (Allowed, Blocked, etc.) and there appears to be nothing
blocked. Does anyone have any clues what's happening with sygate.
I also tried ZA and avast announced that it's not compatible with ZA :)

Use Kerio 2.1.5. It's works great with avast.
(don't take last 4.xx reluease of Kerio as they are more complex to use)

Is Kerio 4.xx still very much bloated?
I used it for a long time with good results but my Internet connection suffered in speed because of that.
Never had the chance to go back to 2.xx to see if it was any faster.
Anyway I suffered more when I used BlackIce Defender.
My PC got hacked and I lost a good deal of personal stuff from my harddrives...

Never tried again since that problem I had : when a security window pops up, all the traffic was blocked since you click a button. I "lost" one DLing night due to that. 2.1.5 works great and I know a lot of p2p geeks that use it.
