I always thought that when I can to buy a projector, I'll do it inmediately.
What do you think?
Also there is paint formulas to obtain better projection results than with a simple white screen.
Does anybody know something about this?

We are not in your home. A projector can't be used in any place, as a TV or a plasma. Or you are thinking about a rear-projector ?

Best result are obtained with highly specialized screens that are not "simple". Thet are made in a material that reflect the light in a specific direction and absorb all unwanted source light.
If you forgot that (because it is very expensive), then a painted wall can be better than a screen because the major problem of screen is that it's very difficult to keep them plane. They always curves a little !
3 or 4 painting in a brilliant withe (Delux Valentine, if you have this brand in Espana) on a perfectly smoothed wall give very good results.

But as said in first lines, the main question is how is your room ? Where will be placed the projector (roof or floor ?), can you do the ABSOLUTE darkness in this room ? Do you live in that room or will it be a specialized room ?
Remember also that projectors are very noisy (more than a PC) so the projector should not be too close to your hears (forget to put it on a furniture just above your head).

I'm in Home-Theater since 15 years so if you have questions, do not hesitate.

It would be a semi dedicated room, when we see a film it will be almost without light across the day and dark on night. Im meaning a projector wher you plug your SAP or your PC or any another video source (Sat TV, etc.)

I said simple in that sense that you say.
I will use a painted wall.
You can see in and give me your opinion:

It seems that a white screen don't give same results as screens painted with some color combination.

I have an Epson Powerlite 71C and mainly use it in my study mostly and it is projected against a wall. I have a theater in my basement with a homemade 16:9 screen that cost about $10 to make. The screen looks a little better except for a "hotspot" where you notice the intensity of the lamp. The projector is an XGA LCD that gives an incredible picture except you need complete darkness to get the full effect.

Luis btw. dont put your main focus in product decisions on the LUMEN amount of the Device you want to buy as anyhow its better to view projected stuff in a darked room. There are sexy devices with less LUMEN but more px and better colorconstancy all over the area. Sanyo's Z2 or Z3 (even the Z1) are known for a very good price/quality relation.

Better buying a cheaper 1024x768 device incl. a good quality then a 1280x720p incl maybe a worse quality.

When 720p will be the standard then in 2-3 years you can get an ACTUAL 720p model and sell your good 1024x768 one.
Makes sense!

Also dont buy a simple no-name product as its not granted if their lamps will still be sold in a few years. And iven if its just a 3parity manufacturer lamp, its very diff. to findout the manufacturer then.

IMHO the marked of 720p products is still too young.
IF buying a 720p product, you should think about building a HTPC which via DVI will bring phantastic pictures to your Device (scaled internally with a high quality within the HTPCs softwaredecoder or codec.

Thanks Inc.
I don't know what is a 720p product and why is better that 1024*768 one, neither what is HTPC.

Edited: I found out something about 720p and HTPC, but Im still don't know what are the DVI advantages.

The colorimetry of a projector has to be set during installation/configuration step. So comparing different taste of white paints is useless : you will set the parameters of the projector accordingly.

All you need is a brilliant whithe of good quality. And you have to use 3 or 4 covers.
