webaccelerator.google.com - do you believe on it

http://webaccelerator.google.com/

It promises will increase your browsing speed!!

Sincerely, I just think this was the best idea from google to increase their database!! Because every page you visit, it comes from google proxy first! So, they register new pages I think!

Nevertheless, the more people use the same proxy than you, the faster you retrieve the pages you want. So that can be a good thing to all use the google's one.

Well, yes and no :)
It's a "compressed" proxy, so the idea is that once you connect to them, the client you download will compress the data coming down the pipe to you, and decompress it locally.
I do that all the time with "Secure Shell", set up in port forwarding/dynamic mode.
I use "Putty" for that.
But if google has developed a proxy client with a propietary compression, well then I'll have to try it :D
BTW, the site comes up with this message:
Code:

Thank you for your
interest in Google Web Accelerator.
We have currently reached our
maximum capacity of users and
are actively working to increase
the number of users we can support.

Could someone upload a copy to http://www.mytempdir.com and give us the ID for download here :?:

Thanks,

Got it :!:

But now, I can't log in the forum :!:
I had to shut it down :(
Seems like a cookie issue.

Note: Opera is still faster than Firefox, even with the accelerator on.
