[Updated] pfSense 1.0RC3

Hya guys,
Just thought I'd let you know that pfSense has just gone 1.0RC3.
Main changelog items are definitly:
- speed improvements all over the place!
- embedded products (Soekris/WRAP) are now upgradable just like the Generic PC image has always been.
- Snort has been added to the Generic PC packages (this is going to become a classic in the future of pfS).

Generic PC and Embedded (Soekris/WRAP) downloads: http://www.pfsense.com/mirror.php?section=downloads

You beat me to it Rui
I've been using it since the day it was released.
On two WRAP boards at work, and at home, on my Soekris 4501.
The speed enhancements are excelent!
It's now useable on my board (4501), and fast enough on a Soekris 4801 :)
I'll be playing now with OLSRD mesh for WiFi networks ;)

Speed enhancements are really cool even because I'm still on my net4521 which is as fast (or shall I say as slow ) as your board Karl.
But in terms of business what really triggered my attention was that Snort package.
I gotta try that till the end of this month because maybe I can go back and sell this product instead of a M$ ISA for a small company that has a partnership with us.
Heck, if it works and if it's usable, I'll even cut them some slack and I'll put an extra discount on the final tag :P.
What I really wanna know is if it will accept external/ready-made rulesets that you can download from some sites like http://www.bleedingsnort.com/ .
If it can then M$ ISA can KMA goodbye .
Cheers

PS: I almost forgot!
If you need some more speed then get rid of that Metallic theme and select the pfSense theme from the General menu.
That should save you some cpu cycles on your net4501.

What I'm really waiting for is the addition of "DansGuardian" :)
That, together with SNORT, will be a perfect combination ;)

Yes it should.
BTW, I was the person responsible for dumping the ISA server at work, over two years ago
I substituted the ISA for a machine running FreeBSD 5.x, and hand crafted firewall rules.
I'm currently in the process of cutting over to pfSense, so I have more control and ease of management :)

Just did that. Thanks :)
