Does hard drive cooling fans, is it a good idea to have one
somebody told me that if you HD is over 60 gigs is a good
idea to have one attach cause they over heat

I really think it’s a waste of money having hard drive coolers? Here is a review for one of the more expensive hdd coolers, (http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/cas...oldrive1.shtml). You can see it only cools it a little. Also most hdd don't produce that much heat to damage it. A good cheap way of cooling your hdd is getting a good case that has fan attachments on the 3.25" drives.

Never had a problem with my 80 gig 7200rpm HDD overheating... and I don't have any fans attached... gets damn noisy at times though.

It's always best to have proper case fans {top,bottom, intake and outake for example} but if your hardrive is running really really hot, say if you're encoding or kvcding for 48 in a row,, , then i'd invest in hard drive cooler like this one

usually these styles removable or not come with aluminum heatsinks and fans
it's not so much the size or capacity as it is the rpm's i.e. 7200 or 10,000 rpm would tend to produce more heat...
making sure there's room to breathe is also better, meaning cleaning up the cables.

Mine usually gets 42 degrees Celsius...

My Athlon 2200+ gets 56 - 58 degrees celsius, while encoding..

My Athlon 2000+ goes up to 63 degrees Celsius. Watercooled. But the Epox Board measures the internal diode and adds 20 degrees. Already had contact with the developers...
The right temperature is about 42 degrees.

im hittin low 40's to mid 50's depending on how many other systems im running in da office at the time....
usually, with my amd box beside it,,,i hit da switches on all my fans,,and
it stabilizes at around 45 or so..
