PlayStation 1 - BackUp tips?

Need some help and tipz on which software to use for backing up playstation 1 games. I bought a few gamez for the kidz and want to make backups and keep the originals fingerprint and scratch free.

I've use Nero and CloneCD, burning at 4x to 8x, to backup and ended up with three coasters. These two will backup any other type of audio or data or kvcd, bin/cue, etc, but not playstation.
CDRWin and Prassi dont work with my new aopen 24x burner.
Do I need any sort of boot rom disk, or is there an app like PSX-Copier to CDR?

hey zTr,

I backed up many of my psx1 games with CloneCD. The problem is that the game console has some sort of a copy-protection type thing built in (not sure how it works) so I had to purchase a modification chip (about $20+1/2hour to install) so that it plays cd-r's. The installation just required soldering 4 wires from the chip to points on the board- pretty easy.

I forgot to mention I got the chip from http://www.mod-chip.com and I was a satisfied customer :)

Rend,
thx man, i forgot about these mod chipz. So, i asked the shop where i got it and they said it has been mod-ded already. I brought it back to them and the guy tested some of his 'backups' :D , he said that it was a bad burn, and not the console. He recommended using cdrwin and clone cd with some clony plugin. cdrwin doesnt recognize my burner. I tried using clonecd with the clony plugin- it picked up the cd, recognized the type of cd, adjusted the settings and asked me to burn. I did both, image to the harddrive and then to cdr, and copy on the 'fly'. Both turned out more coasters. It did get to the second PStation screen though, but then it froze.
I'm not a gamer, (other than mame arcade stuff), and only interested in backing up those $ 60 + dollar games for the kidz.
I pick up my cd's in bulk, so its not so much turning out coasters, if i dont really need to anyway, but rather the frustration of it not working.

with my psx1 there is a trick to loading the games on cdr- something like holding the reset button down for 3 seconds or something. Usually I can get it to work after about 4 trys. I used a newer version of CloneCD burning at 8x.

Except for flight sims on the pc, I'm not much of a gamer either

CDRWIN is a very good CD tool, and can backup your games.
You can even store the CD Image of the game on your hard drive and burn it to a CD when you need the backup. WINISO can do that too.

Thx Neo...

i've heard of winIso, but never tried it.
Cdrwin doesn't work with my aopen burner, even though their site says cdrwin supports my model with or without a firmware upgrade.

I've been using nero's cdtocd copy and i'm batting about a 7/10 or so....
