TeamSpeak - Multi user voice chat.

Anyone care to try this :?:
Many simultaneous users can talk at the same time :!:
It's like a multi user voice chat room.
http://www.teamspeak.org/modules.php...ads&file=index

Download the TS2 Win32 Client and connect to the following IP: 68.63.250.4:8767

I've created a temporary channel there (KVCD). If anyone wants to experiment, I'll be there for the next hour or so.
Thanks to "gamecraze" for letting me know about this program ;)

If this is worth it, I'll set up a permanent server for KVCD.Net, and then we all can have a (voice) ball

Well, as far as multiuser voice chat, Teamspeak is the leading choice, as far as i'm aware, among multiplayer online video games that use voice chatting alot. So i'd say it prob as good as your going to get if you want to have multiple people in it.

Zyphon 10-19-2003 04:15 PM

Yeah TeamSpeak is by far the best Tool for Voice Chats i used to be in a Medal Of Honor Clan and we used it for Clan Matches good quality usually to. :)

Gamecraze 10-20-2003 11:25 PM

Need...more....people for teamspeak....no team = no speak...
Alas.
yet another good idea, doomed to lack of intrest.

kwag 10-20-2003 11:31 PM

I think the writing on the wall is very clear. Forums are superior to voice chat.
The reason: Information in the forums is permanent, but information in voice chat/rooms, is "volatile" :!:
So all users that were not in the voice chat, missed all the information.

Yes, but sorting through all that data is an emmence task.
Direct help from others is nice somtimes.

I did run a TS server off one of my PC's on my home network for a Clan i was in, maybe if you wanted to Kwag i could set it up again and you could use it for this board it could handle up to 16 people.

I suppose you could try it as an experiment if it dont work out then you could scrap it. :)

PM me and let me know. ;)

I'd like to run some tests. If all goes well, I'm installing the server version on my FreeBSD server, so we'll have a private KVCD Users voice channel ;)

Ignore previous server ip.
I'm currently installing the TeamSpeak server version on our own server :)
I'll post here with IP information when it's up and running.

Nice Karl, I used to run a TS server from my comp its a very handy tool, while the audio may not be as good as say Skype it is good enough just to chat to many users and I think it would be useful for ppl in here also. :)

You haven't tried it with the SPEEX CODEC 8O

Please, try it here: 80.190.246.41:5656

Channel KVCD with password: 123456

I'm still setting up my server, so in the mean time, I'm testing on a public server, using SPEEX codec at 25.9Kbps.

Why we can't keep a TS server running?

No, I mean why it will change IP almost every day? (or not?)

Well, if the public server I'm currently connected is a fixed IP, then we can keep using it.
But if it goes down, there are thousands of other servers available, so I can just pick another high bandwidth server, and create the channel there.
So as long as this server is up and running, we don't need to change to another server :)
