I've switched over from win xp to RedHat 9 and I'm looking for the file manager to see what's where. I see 'file roller' but this looks more like a package viewer or something. Anyone know of a good one to download or is there already one built in that I'm not seeing?

Thanks,
ren

Hi ren,

Use "The K File Manager ", which should be already installed.
But if you want more choices, look here

Thanks kwag!

That site is what i was looking for

I'm currently using the Gnome desktop- do I need to switch to KDE for the k file manager? I don't see K File Manager listed anywhere to run it

Did you select "KDE" during installation
I'm not sure what's Red Hat's default to

Red Hat probably defaults to Gnome as they have a number of guys who do work within the Gnome community and do a lot of hacking on GTK.

Gnome is pretty good but I find KDE is better optimized, though you should be able to run KDE apps in Gnome and vice versa. The KDE file manager should be listed somewhere as the whole menu thing was supposed to be unified whereas previously Gnome had a KDE menu, etc.

Cheers,
