big doubt about backup rights !
i got one pm today and don't know the right answer.
we have the right to copy a dvd that we buy for backup ? if yes, this backup could be as vcd-kvcd-svcd-skvcd....etc? ---> or only in dvd ? i need to know the law about that backup and what format can be used :!: thanks! |
In Germany its veeeery easy:
You can copy to whatever media you want IF: you dont have to deactivate/kill a copyprotection of a source if a protection is added. So since the new law is present: Ripping apps. like SmartRipper or DVDdecrypter are prohibited in Germany. ;-) |
This depends on what country the person who asked you live, varies from country to country.

Hey Jorel,
my understanding is the media/format you backup to is your choice, as long as you own the original. dvdrhelp.com has a number of threads on the legalities of this, cheers, |
