Both programs gives us differents bitrates for same options.
Wich program shows a more reliable value?

Calcumatic takes 1MB as 1024kb, many others do count using 1000kb!
second, ... The mux overhead is the double in calcumatic AND the realmediasize is smaller in calcumatic.
I also used Kwags values in my "bitratecalculator" (included in the mencalc Thread) as they seem to be more safe and as I used Calcumatic in the past .... they never fail.

But bitrate value from calcumatic is bigger than mencodeme value?
Can I take this bigger value and use it with mencodeme? It will give me anyway a file with the correct size? Or will be a higger size that no fit in a CD80, for example?

Did you choose "SVCD Mux overhead" in Calcumatic??

PS: DO you always paste your signature manually inlcuding the "visit" links???
As if I quote your post I got ALL that stuff in my upcoming reply included

You can take whatever you want as mencoder never respect what you ask to it

Last attempt : asked 1800, obtained 1744.
Before (other sources) : aked 1930, obtained 1760. Asked 1740, obtained 1580

@Dialhot
Have you tried playing with lmin and scplx_mask? This values need some tweaking for high bitrate targets, otherwise it can produce the "can't quantisize more" phenomenum.

@ Dialhot: Until now, using MakeAvis, mencodeme/mencoder give me exact size, about 795MB. I have seen a few exceptions, with size quite far of required (less size always).

1 - Yes, I do choose SVCD Mux Overhead.
2 - I take this work, (copy and pasting my signature, for that people what needs help with KVCD starting), please, excuseme but is helpfull for newbies and I know that you will understand that (you can see that my signature not only shows my links).
You can reply me just posting a reply with @Prodater64 to recall my attention. Thank you.

Me too, always under. That's not so bad in fact as the visual result are good even with this "under the target" size

@VM
No i didn't try anything for the moment as it is only my third movie with mencoder and I'm currently struggling with filters.
Next setp : these goddam underflows.

Nooooo
I meant it the other way: Why dont you integrate it in your sig?

@Phil

at 1pass at 98% of all my past encodings it mtched the wanted avg!
And at2pass it matches 100%!

I would wish that, but, is there any way to do this? My signature has many characters and sistem do no permit that.

I use allways the CalcuMatic settings for Average Bitrate (with SVCD mux rate) and my files (audio+video) are 7-8 MB less of the 795 MB limit of CD 80 min.

Because I did 6 shot with mencoder, only one was in the target but... with DOZENS of underflows
